MARCO NALDI
Marco Naldi was born and lives near Bologna. Fishing has always been a part of his life since childhood and he has been fly fishing exclusively for fifteen years.
For some time he has been devoting most of his free evenings to fly tying. He likes to build a bit of everything: dry, submerged flies and nymphs, and his favourite mount is the buttonhole mount, inspired by the great builders who invented and tested this construction method.
He loves dry fly and nymph fishing and particularly favours sight fishing in chalk streams.
He lives this passion of his as a way of escaping the stresses of everyday life. He practices nokill and no longer seeks quantity, but quality in his catches. "Being able to fool a trout with one of my artificials gives me an incredible feeling".
In 2020, he took part in several contests for the magazine 'Fly Fishing & Spinning', winning two first places and other podium finishes. Magazine for which he writes articles on fishing and fly tying. In 2021, he took first place at the Grayling Trophy construction competition held in Austria, and in 2023, he achieved fourth place at the Slovenian Open Fly Tying Championship.
He is a member of the Pro Team Gvs Realistic Fly Tying System. He owns and operates two social channels, Facebook and Instagram, where he shares all my activities.
During the winter period, taking advantage of the closure of river fishing, he dedicates himself to rodmaking, his other great passion, which is the construction of bamboo rods with which he enjoys fishing.
He has fished in many waters in northern and central Italy. His river par excellence is the Brenta, which he knows like the back of his hand. He frequents many Italian resurgences and often goes beyond the borders: Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Lapland are among his favourites. For some time now, fly fishing has also become his job: he is employed at The Fly Store, a fly fishing shop in Bologna. He is a member of the 'Italian Fishing Guide' group, which allows him to pass on his knowledge and technical background by making it available to people. Finally, he is a first-level instructor at the Italian Claudio Carrara Fly Fishing School.
