ANDREA GASPARINI
Andrea Gasparini started fishing in the mid-1980s. He came from a family of fishermen: his father already practised fly fishing and was a profound connoisseur of the then marvellous resurgences of the Friulian lowlands. Andrea, too, immediately developed a passion for this technique: there were many satisfactions, the environments were marvellous, insects abounded, as well as trout and grayling.
In the same period, he also began to try his hand at construction. He built artificials for himself and for his father and brother, who did not have his patience. He relied on the very few construction books of the time and looked forward to the monthly issue of the magazine 'Pescare' where there was a recipe for an artificial fly. "I remember with nostalgia the dressings of Piero Lumini and Raffaele De Rosa," he recalls.
As the years went by, he also got to know the other waters of the Friuli region, the wonderful rivers of Slovenia, particularly the Soca river, and some Austrian rivers, particularly those managed by the Gargantini family, with whom he has a deep friendship.
He was one of the founders of the 'EL Cogol' club in Pozzuolo del Friuli twenty years ago.
His construction style is inspired by the techniques of the great Francesco Palù, whom he met and frequented. He has taken part in numerous bait-building competitions, including victories at the Bisenzio Trophy, the Gran Premio Lombardia and Villa Tinin.
He is very proud to participate once again in the EOS Italian fly tying show.
